WATER SPORTS
With
so much water surrounding the islands, there are plenty of water sport
options available, especially for thrill-seekers. Many hotels and tour
operators can arrange water-skiing, biscuiting, wake boarding or
speedboat hires just for fun. Try Ferrari Water Sports on Gili Trawangan. For more sedate water
activities, there are also kayaks and wind surfers for hire.
In the right conditions, there are
good surf breaks off Gili Air and Gili Trawangan. Surf boards are for
hire along the beachfront and experienced local surfers will act as
your guide.
Stand-Up Paddle Boards (SUP)
Gili Paddle. With Graham
Francis, you can learn to stand-up paddle board, or if you are already
experienced, you can rent SUP's by the hour.
Kayaking
One and two person kayaks are also available to rent at Trawangan Dive's water sports centre, Gili Paddle.
GLASS BOTTOM BOAT
Exploring the waters off the Gilis by glass bottom
boat is a peaceful and rewarding way to spend a day, especially with
children. Charter a glass bottom boat or join in one of the trips on
offer from boat operators on any of the three islands. With clear calm
waters and good visibility this is an excellent way to experience the
magical beauty of the reefs.
The experienced boat captains will take you to
sites where you can marvel at the beauty of the reefs, discover the
abundant and colourful sea life, and, if you’re lucky, catch a glimpse
of a giant sea turtle!
